Being apart of USF's exhibition design course, I was honored to get the chance to meet and work with the late artist Yolanda Lopéz' son, Rio Lopéz. We prepared the universities Thatcher gallery space for her historical and wonderful archived artwork. Yolanda dedicated a lot of her work towards social justice, including serving as artist for community newspaper where she created graphics and original typefaces. As I studied her work in preparation for the exhibition design, I gained a lot of inspiration from this portion of her art, which lead me to creating the font used for the exhibitions entrance panel and gallery flyer font, where it says her name "Yolanda M. Lopéz" in my Typeface. Created on Adobe illustrator and inspired by her amazing original work, I am so happy and proud my font was chosen by Rio himself to be used.
